Error Messages/Solutions
TrakMate for WindowsTM error messages and suggested solutions are presented in
WindowsTM message boxes at the time of the error. If you encounter an error which
does not provide an adequate message box to solve the problem, note the following information or call TrakMate for
WindowsTM customer support.
Illegal Operation Errors are caused when WindowsTM has detected an unrecoverable
error. This error is usually a second error to a definable error. If this error occurs in any program, the computer
must be re-booted and WindowsTM restarted. If an Illegal Operation occurs
repeatedly, contact customer support with a description of the events causing the error and specifically the error
preceding this one, if any.
Application Error Message "Cannot find file d:setup (or one of its components") Check to insure that the CD is
in the CD-Rom Drive. If the error persists it may indicate a hardware problem with the floppy drive.
Application Execution Error - Insufficient Memory to run this application. Quit one or more Windows Applications and
then try again. Either insufficient memory (RAM) or problems in the setup of the memory manager. Consult your vendor
or someone with expertise in configuring memory.
"NEW" as an ID number under TMW If the computer is rebooted or the power goes out during the setting up of a new
prospect, a prospect with "NEW" ID may be left on the system. The rest of the prospect record will be blank. The record
should be identified in Optional Reporting and then deleted.
System Error - Memory Parity Error Detected, System Halted Call computer vendor. Indicates a hardware problem or
severe power supply problems.
"Slow" - Complaint that the system is running slow. If the system appears to be running slow, make sure that the
hardware requirements are met: Pentium 133 or higher processor with a minimum 32M RAM. It may also be that the
hard disk is in need of de-fragmenting.
"Error 3197 Data has Changed Operations have stopped" can occur when one tries to bring up an existing prospect
and someone else is trying to use the same prospect. Solution: Do a Repair as soon as possible. If, you continue
to get this error after the repair and you continue to use the product, you will corrupt the master data file. Your only
options then will be to use your last Backup disk(s) and Restore your data. Or, if you don’t have a Backup you will need
to start over with the upgrade or install – it is important to do a CHKDSK and make sure there are no errors that
might need to be fixed before uninstalling.
Lost or Missing TMW Icon. If the TrakMate for WindowsTM file program group or
icon is missing it will need to be re-created through the WindowsTM Manager. Consult
your WindowsTM manual for instructions on creating program groups or program items. The
TrakMate for WindowsTM programs are normally stored in the folder
\PROGRAM FILES\TRAKMATE. The program file is named TMWV6.EXE.
Printer Problems. make sure you check your default printer under Windows to ensure that the printing procedure
will print correctly.
Report printouts - Reports can be customized with or set with different fonts; if you change the default fonts the
report will print in that font until you change it again.
Reports cutting data off on left side - check the Printer Setup Options. Select Options and look at the About button
or Control Panel of WindowsTM . make sure it has the correct printer driver and is set
for 8.5 x 11 paper.
Printing Envelopes - CannonTM Bubble Jet printers must have the paper thickness set
when printing envelopes. If the thickness is not set the address on your printed envelopes may print at the top of the
envelope or not at all. Please consult your manual on setting the appropriate paper thickness.
EXPORT - if you try to export data to floppies and the file is too large, a message will advise you. We suggest
that you always EXPORT to the hard drive and then work through File Manager, or another backup utility to copy to
removable media. Comma delimited is used on most everything for main frame and other PC applications; Word Perfect
Secondary for Word Perfect.
IMPORT - use Comma Delimited & Basic Fields format as described in the IMPORT section of this manual.
Fields not imported can be edited after the import is completed. TrakMate for WindowsTM
will only import comma delimited according the format described in this manual.
IMPORT is only used to transfer prospect information NOT word processing documents (letters). If
knowledgeable, one may be able to use WP or Word copy/paste concept.
BACKUP - Error 75 - if you try to use an old TrakMate DOS backup disk you will experience this message. Need to
use new disks for backup in TrakMate for WindowsTM.
